The Significance and Beliefs of Buddhism
Buddhism is very different from Christianity. I wanted to learn about Buddhism because I wanted to explore a religion with different view on everything than Christianity. I chose to research Buddhism because I wanted to take advantage of the opportunity to learn about a religion other than my own.
Significance
Over 1 billion people in china are buddhist. Such a popular religion is very significant because religion influences ones outlook on life. In order to understand the culture of others it is important to understand their backgrounds and beliefs. Understanding the religion of a country also helps us understand the culture. By learning about the beliefs and customs of Buddhism it helps understand more about the country of china as a whole.

Buddhists believe that through meditation, spiritually cultivation and religious practices one can become spiritually enlightened. Once one has become spiritually enlightened their mind will be awaken and they will become a buddha. When the original Buddha (Gautama) was enlightened he created the four Noble Truths in which all buddhists use to learn from.
The Four Noble Truths:
1. Life means suffering
2. The origin of suffering is attachment
3. The cessation of suffering is attainable
4. The path to the cessation is suffering
